Two years and two months later, I am back in the musical director’s chair for another original. I’m proud of the music I’ve composed, the delicious dialogue I’ve written based on years of research and conversations with those obsessed with the Hall-Mills case, and the amazingly supportive team I have with me on this journey. A Healthy Marriage is a show about making music, above all else: the joy, pain, and effort that every musician undertakes by showing up for rehearsal even when they are at their lowest. Career musicians are resilient, empathetic, fastidious, particular, eccentric, and full of heart. I hope that through their voices, the Hall-Mills murder case takes on new meaning. After all, before it was national news, it was all just choir talk.

Rehearsal number one starts in about 12 hours. Time for sleep. Tomorrow, I talk about my dream and try to make it real. God and Bruce, be with me.
